Portfolio Welcome: Alli Connect
By Micaela Kamp
First responders are trained to manage crisis. But when the crisis is internal, the systems that support team mental health rely on something less reliable: self-reporting.
More first responders now die by suicide than in the line of duty. The primary tools meant to address it — employee assistance programs and peer support teams — are underutilized or often detect problems too late.
The cost of this is real: a 250-person department can spend more than $1.6M annually on the effects of untreated mental health — overtime backfill, disability claims, and attrition.
The risk of a crisis shows up earlier in patterns and behavior but are often unrecognized by those in charge.
Alli Connect changes that.
Founded by Colleen Hilton and Richard Kasperowski, Alli Connect is a mental health operating system for first responder agencies — connecting early detection, peer support, and clinical care, while producing the compliance documentation that state mandates increasingly require.
The platform covers the full mental health lifecycle.
Alli Connect’s technology creates a “golden thread” of support across the wellness ecosystem for first responders integrating with Record Management/Computer Aided Dispatch systems to connect historically siloed tools into a single, HIPAA-compliant platform. First Responders receive quarterly wellness check-ins via text, completed on shift with private results. Peer support teams manage critical incidents and outreach through structured workflows instead of spreadsheets. When care is needed, an AI-powered matching engine connects individuals to a vetted, culturally competent therapist within 48 hours. Leadership receives aggregate, de-identified insights across engagement, outcomes, and utilization, turning wellness data into actionable trends for early intervention and better decision-making.
In departments using the platform, outcomes are tangible: reductions in sick time, increased engagement, and sustained citizen complaints dropping from 12 to zero, and usage far exceeds traditional benchmarks, with roughly 10% engagement compared to the 2% typical of employee assistance programs.
And what differentiates Alli Connect is continuity.
Most systems rely on individuals to raise their hand. Alli Connect creates a continuous data layer, surfacing risk before it becomes crisis and enabling earlier intervention.
Built by a founder who spent 25 years treating first responders and previously scaled and exited a leading outpatient mental health company, Alli Connect reflects a simple insight:
Mental health support isn’t a periodic check-in. It has to be operationalized.
We’re proud to welcome Colleen, Richard, and the Alli Connect team to the RevUp portfolio as they build the infrastructure to support the people responsible for protecting everyone else.
